Bree or Maasbree lies to the west of the Maas river, not far from Venlo. Until October 1, 1940, the municipality of Maasbree also included Blerick, which has since become part of Venlo. For the resistance in Venlo, Maasbree was part of the agricultural hinterland where people could be hidden, the so called onderduikers or divers.
Liberated: 1944-11-18
