1940-1945. The resistance in the dutch province of Limburg

Crisis Controle Dienst (CCD)

The Centrale Crisis Controle Dienst (Central Crisis Control Service) was established by the Dutch state in 1934, among other things to control the food situation. Some controllers made grateful use of it during the occupation, supplying food and clothing to people in hiding, escaped prisoners of war, and crashed allied air crews. Some officials of this service, led by Martin (Bob) Bouman, supported the miners’ strike in 1943. Three of them were executed for it by a firing squad of 15 soldiers on the evening of May 2, 1943, along with three miners and a chemist who worked at the Emma State Mine. Read more about the miners’ strike.
