The fallen resistance people in Limburg
Peter van Eijk was born in Asten in the province of North Brabant, 25 km north of Weert in Limburg. [1][2#3]
When he was two years old, he moved to Weert with his parents. [2#2]
He was a machine fitter by trade. [2#3]
When he was called up for forced labor in Germany, he decided to go into hiding. However, he was discovered and arrested on August 17, 1944. After an imprisonment of some weeks in the Amersfoort camp, he was deported to the main camp of Neuengamme concentration camp near Hamburg. [3]
There he succumbed to the extreme conditions on February 20, 1945, in the main camp. Peter was only 19 years old.
