Hubert Jamin was a caregiver and prison guard (prison in a former Franciscan monastery on the Minderbroedersberg), belonged to the L.O.-Maastricht, specially helping imprisoned resistance fighters. [1]
Hubèr and other prison guards also pass on information from interrogations to the resistance. A series of planned arrests failed because those involved were able to go into hiding in time. [2]
Gonnie Zeguers-Boere, who since 1942 had a relationship with SiPo chief Strobel and spied for him in LO circles, reported that prison guards L. Krans and H.J. Jamin cooperated with the L.O. and passed on when prisoners were put on transport. [1]
The raids on these transports always failed, most likely due to Zeguers-Boere’s betrayal. [2]
Arrested on 9 May 1944, died in Buchenwald concentration camp.
In Maastricht-Scharn the Hubèr Jaminstraat is named after him. [3#1]
A Stolperstein (Stumbling Stone) has been placed for him at Statensingel 84 in Maastricht. [3#2][4]
According to the Dienst Identificatie en Berging (Identification and Recovery Service), no gravesite is known. [5].
Hubert J. ( Hubèr ) Jamin is listed in the Erelijst 1940-1945 (Honor Roll of the Dutch Parliament). [6]
