Dr. Aloys Mertens, Bergheim

Aloys Mertens taught at the boys’ boarding school “Schülerheim Schunck” in Bergheim, founded by his brothers-in-law, Heinrich and Leo Schunck.
In 1939, the Nazis closed the school on Hauptstraße 98. After the liberation of Germany from the Nazis, he became a teacher at a Gymnasium in Bedburg.
