Nenhuma tropa terrestre britânica esteve envolvida na libertação de nossa região. No entanto, três aviões da RAF caíram em Valkenburg. Entre eles havia pessoas da Comunidade Britânica.

1. 8 de julho de 1941, Houthem, entre Putweg e Curfsweg. [1.1]
   Hampden AD937
   61 Sqn RAF, base aérea de Hemswell.
   .A aeronave estava em uma missão de bombardeio sobre Mönchengladbach quando foi atingida pelo piloto de caça alemão Tenente R. Knacke I./NJG1) e caiu entre Houthem e Meersen. Três membros da tripulação morreram no acidente, mas o primeiro piloto, J.G.N. Braithwaite, sobreviveu ferido e tornou-se prisioneiro de guerra. [2]
2. 29 de junho de 1943, Halifax II JB907, Valkenburg
   Halifax II (Número de série: JB907), 78 Sqdn, RAF. Caiu às 01:25 perto do Castelo de Chaloen, em Valkenburg, após uma missão em Colônia.
   Hoje, perto desse local, está o memorial do acidente do Halifax. [1.2]
   De acordo com William R. Chorley, ele provavelmente foi abatido por um caça noturno alemão. Flak (armas antiaéreas) de baterias próximas a Aachen também são mencionadas como uma possível causa da queda desse Halifax. Todos os oito membros da tripulação morreram e foram enterrados no Cemitério Geral de Maastricht. [3]
3. 1º de janeiro de 1945, Zwaluwstraat, Vilt (Berg & Terblijt) [1.3].
   O Avro 683 Lancaster partiu da RAF Mepal às 15h48LT (15h48) em uma missão de bombardeio para Vohwinkel. Enquanto sobrevoava a Holanda, a aeronave ficou fora de controle e caiu em Vilt. Todos os oito membros da tripulação morreram. Enquanto isso, casas foram construídas no local.
