As far as the L.O. (resistance and aid organization for those in hiding) was concerned, Hulsberg belonged to the sub-district of Klimmen.
In the fall of 1943, Bep van Kooten initiated the integration of the sub-district, which in addition to Klimmen also included the villages of Hulsberg, Voerendaal, Ransdaal and Ubachsberg, to the district of Heerlen.
Parts of Hulsberg from the pre-war period, such as the Emmaberg, were incorporated into Valkenburg in the course of a municipal reform.
