Louis Bos lived in Helden [1]. Son of the farmers Wilhelmus Bos and Anna Elisabeth Wolters. Unmarried. Farmer. Roman Catholic. [2]
The person in question was in hiding in Deurne and belonged to the OD there. Was shot by the Germans during the recapture of part of the municipality of Deurne. [3]

Unlike what was often the case in South Limburg, most OD members in North Limburg were actively involved in the resistance and did not wait for their Ordnungsdienst assignment after the withdrawal of the Germans. Often they were also members of the LO and/or its combat groups at the same time. When, during the liberation of the south, resistance members were offered the opportunity to join the Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten (Domestic Forces), those who had actively resisted joined the Stoottroepen. The others were assigned to the security forces serving behind the front lines. Louis was less than 20 years old when he died. Presumably he, too, was assigned to guard duty. But then the Germans came back, and that was his undoing.

He had gone into hiding in Neerkant [1] and was killed by a shot in the belly at about five o’clock in the afternoon while fleeing from the Germans. On the website Oorlogsslachtoffers Deurne (War Victims of Deurne), the cause of death is given as: by shot in the belly/ collapsing facade. [2]

Louis is listed on war memorials in Neerkant and Panningen.
Louis Bos is listed in the Erelijst 1940-1945 (Honor Roll of the Dutch Parliament). [4]

Reburied on the National Field of Honor in Loenen, grave E-1030 [5]
